Wee Sprouts Daycare – Mt. Morris, IL.

Our Facility

Wee Sprouts Daycare takes place in my friendly, loving home in Mt. Morris, IL. My home has a room dedicated strictly for diaper changing and nap time in which children are provided their  own cots.

Across the hall from the bedroom is a very colorful and inviting playroom filled with infant toys, books, blocks, balls and padded flooring.

An attached three season room allows us to practice large motor skills regardless of weather conditions. It also holds a huge assortment of toys for dramatic play, cars, dolls and a book area. We also  play music and dance in this room.  The kitchen and dining area are open and roomy allowing children to be entertained by the squirrels and birds enjoying a snack out the picture window during our meal times.

The back door opens up to a large gated deck with plenty of room for ride on toys and shooting hoops. Beyond the deck is a fenced backyard full of fun. It is equipped with a sandbox, swing set, climbers, slides, and play houses.

The Wee Sprouts Program

I offer a play based hands on curriculum which allows children to learn basic education skills through day to day play activities. We are surrounded everyday with an opportunity to learn the ABCs, counting, colors, reading activities, science and social skills.

Children are encouraged to help with household tasks as deemed appropriate for their age and ability Example: Setting the table for meals, or picking up toys after play time.

Our Daycare Clientele

Wee Sprouts Daycare is composed of a mixed age group of up to 16 children ranging in age from 0-12 so no 2 days are ever the same and no routine is without flexibility.

A Typical Day at Wee Sprouts

Our typical daily routine usually starts out with breakfast at 8 a.m. for those that come hungry and free play for those that have already eaten. After our breakfast we spend about 15 min in free play while clean up is done.

Structured table time is next on the agenda consisting of some of the following activities: arts and crafts, playdoh, painting, coloring, puzzles, manipulatives or small motor skills.

Music and Dance is next where children can jump sing or even scream and just release some energy before we sit down for story time.

We generally have snack time around 9:30 a.m. before heading outside but a picnic on the lawn is also something we enjoy. Weather permitting we head outside everyday before lunch. Water play is part of our daily summertime experience.

A nutritional yet kid friendly lunch is served after we come in from outdoors at approximately 11:45 a.m. Once lunch is over the children have free play either with puzzles and games or large motor play indoors until quiet time, which is generally around 12:30 p.m.

Younger children are put down for naps while the older children are able to work at the table doing learning activities including math, writing skills and cognitive thinking exercises. Nap time varies from day to day but in general is over by 2:30 p.m.

Afternoon snacks are served after all the children are awake and we then spend our time playing either inside or out, depending on the weather while parents start arriving to pick up children.
